Vincent “Vince” Franklin Markel, 73, of Deltona, Florida, went home to be with Jesus his Savior on June 7, 2026, surrounded by family — his older sister, his three children and their spouses, and his nephew and spouse.
Born on November 21, 1952, in Rantoul, Illinois, Vince was the son of Vincent Kenel and Joan (Moneysmith) Markel.
Vince graduated from Mapleton High School in Ashland, Ohio, and spent much of his career working third shift as a tool bed operator at The Budd Company. He was hardworking, dependable, and deeply committed to providing for his family.
In 1983, Vince married Beverly McClain, and together they raised their children.
More than anything, Vince loved being a Father and then a Grandpa. He enjoyed fixing just about anything, going to live concerts, biking, boating, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He had a big heart, shared God’s love and the Gospel with everyone he met, gave thoughtful advice, and was always generous with his time and support. Vince will be remembered for his contagious laugh, hilarious facial expressions, the stories he loved to tell again and again, and the steady presence he brought to the people he loved.
He is survived by his children, Noah (Kimberly), Ashley (Braden), and Ian; grandchildren Nora, Aiden, and Amelia; sisters Ginny, Catherine (Rick), Rachel (Kip), and Vinice (David); and brothers Tom, Bruce, and Russ (Donna).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit Tuesday June 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ashland. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel is assisting with arrangements. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Ashland Salvation Army Kroc Community Center in Vince’s memory.
