Walter Leroy Morey Sr.

Walter Leroy Morey Sr., 94, of Williamstown, passed away Friday, October 30, 2026 at his home.

He was born October 12, 1932 in Marietta to and Walter Porter and Zemma.

Leroy graduated from Marietta High School and then joined the United States Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict.

Leroy married Shirley Smithberger on August 9, 1957.

He worked for Ravenswood Aluminum for many years, retiring in 1995. They were members of First Baptist Church in Williamstown. He was a member of the Moose and Elk Lodges, as well as American Legion Post 159 and VFW Post 5108.

Leroy will be deeply missed by his sons Walter Leroy (Patricia) Morey Jr. and David Dean (Melinda) Morey; grandchildren Kaitlin Morey, Sarah (John) Sugar and Clair Morey; great grandchildren Jamie and Sophia Sugar; stepbrother Charles (Betty) Porter.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Morey and his brother Gary Morey.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 4th at 1 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta, OH 45750. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of the service.
