Wanda Sustar

October 8, 1927 — January 14, 2022

WOOSTER, Ohio - Rev. Wanda F. Sustar, also known as Mom, Aunt, Sister, Grandma, Mimi, and G’ma, at the age of 94, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022.  There are times when the veil between heaven and earth seems remarkably thin. When reality sets in that it is merely a breath, a step, a heartbeat that separates us from eternity. Today is one of those times.

She was born on Oct 8, 1927 and had dedicated her life to Jesus Christ.  She lived her entire life in service to her King and now He has requested her presence at the throne.  While we are saddened that our time with her on earth has ended, we are overjoyed imagining her running into the arms of Jesus and being reunited with Dad. We are encouraged and strengthened to know that we now have another great one cheering us on and surrounding us in the great cloud of witnesses!

Wanda Sustar, along with her husband, Rev James E. Sustar, were pastors of the Wooster Foursquare Gospel Church from 1971 to 1986.  They orchestrated the construction of the facilities on Friendsville Road in North Wooster and the move of the church home from South Market Street. They retired in 1986 and moved to Florida.  Ready for adventure, she joined a bowling league in Ponte Vedra Beach. When they moved to Fort Myers, she enjoyed water volleyball every day at her home in Pine Ridge Condos.

Her children and grandchildren have fond memories of her always wanting to be right in the middle of what we were doing.  Sitting on the floor, joining in silly antics with the grandkids, and playing games that, when we play them now, remind us of her fun-loving spirit and her love for us.

Surviving are her three sons, Rev. James (Shirley) Sustar of Wooster; Terry (Sandy) Sustar of Wooster; David Sustar of Strongsville; her loving twin sister Donna Lissekam Kurtz Fleshman; and numerous other relatives and dear friends.  She also left a legacy of 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, who all loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James E. Sustar, her daughter Pamela Ruth Sustar, one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

To commemorate her life there will be a memorial open house/family visitation held on Sunday, Jan 30, 2022, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Wooster Foursquare Gospel Church, 3670 Friendsville Rd, Wooster, Ohio.  The last 15 minutes of that time will consist of a closing service time with remarks from the family.
