Cartha Smith

Cartha Lee Smith, 80, of Wooster, died Monday, September 20, 2021, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a brief battle with Covid-19.

Friends may call Thursday from 1 to 3pm at the West Hill Baptist Church.  Services will follow at 3pm with Pastor Dan Wingate officiating. Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting with arrangements.  Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.

Cartha was born December 11, 1940, in Emmons, WV to Vernon and Reba {Graley} Bush.  She graduated from Sherman High School in Ridgeview, WV.

She married James Edward Smith Sr. on June 28, 1958. He survives.

Cartha worked for JCPenney, Liberty Studios and RoomScapes. She was a member of West Hill Baptist Church. She was very involved in Sunday school, Ladies Ministry, Choir and Nursing Home Ministry. Cartha took great pride in her flower gardens and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Cartha will be deeply missed by her husband; children James E. (Sheryl) Smith Jr. of Wooster, Tammy (Al) Kopina of Wooster, Brian (Brooke) Smith of KY; grandchildren Jason (Megan McCabe) Smith, Carissa (Josh) Timko, Ryan (Julia) Kopina, Matt (Mariah Wright) Kopina, Allyson (Tim Randall) Kopina, Dustin (Samantha Kelly) Smith, Colton Smith, Veronica (Aaron) Gillispie and Elizabeth Smith; great-grandchildren Faith, Kylie and Lillyan Timko, Kaleigh Kopina, Kylie, Ramzie and Zane Smith; brothers Charles (Marjean) Bush, and Danny (Ellen) Bush.

Cartha was preceded in death by her parents and brother Marvin Bush.
