Ethel Kimes

Ethel Marie Kimes, 89, of Strongsville, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at St. John Medical Center, in Westlake.

Ethel was born September 23, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio to Julius and Florence {Sorenson} Schurdell.

Ethel graduated from Strongsville High School in 1950.

She married Phillip Kimes on December 18, 1951.  He passed away on June 27, 2021, just short of seventy years of marriage.

Ethel worked for most of her life as a homemaker.  She was a member of Berea Baptist Church. Ethel loved to mend and sew, and always put her family first.

Ethel will be deeply missed by her daughters Belinda (Guy) Penirelli, Karen O’Hearn, Laurie (Joe) Spahr, and Charlotte (Billy) Barbo;  grandchildren Jenelle (Chad) Brown, Kyle (Jas) O’Hearn, Adrianne (Abe) Lang, and Bradley Barbo; great-grandchildren Jeremy, Riley, Kyrah, Titan, and Skarlett;  brothers Marty (Pat) Schurdell, and Warren (Judy) Schurdell; sister-in-law Barb Schurdell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband; grandson Jeremy Hitt; sister Marion Ventura; brothers Rolly Schurdell, and Elmer Schurdell.
