Fred Ulreich

Fred W. Ulreich, Sr., of Wadsworth, Ohio, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at his home. He was born to Elizabeth and Alexander Ulreich on October 23, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. He is the brother of the late Alexander Jr. (Lois), John (LaVerne) of Sarasota, Florida, Harold (Miki) of Carmel, Indiana. He graduated from Chicago's Morgan Park High School,and Wilson Jr. College also in Chicago, from which he received an associate Bachelor's degree in journalism. He entered the Coast Guard in 1950 and served until 1954 when he was honorably discharged as a rated journalist after having served aboard the United States Coast Guard ice breaker, Eastwind and the Coast Guard cutter, Duane. He graduated from Bowling Green, Ohio with a B.S. in journalism in 1956. While at Bowling Green he met his wife Lois, with whom he just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 2005.

Services will be Saturday, March 11, at 11:00 A.M. at Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 West Market Street, Akron with Pastor Charles Lentner officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Friday, March 10 from 3-5 P.M. and from 6-8 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, 9560 Acme Road, Seville.

He is survived by children Fred (Shawn) of Ada, Michigan, Greg (Patty) of Brimfield, Ohio, Donna (Barry) Holzmiller of Mason, Ohio, Barb (Lee) Huskey of Sidney, Ohio, loving grandchildren Hannah and Halle Ulreich, Brent and Emily Ulreich, Cody and Samantha Holzmiller, Warner and Wagner Huskey and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio, 44333 or Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 West Market Street, Akron, Ohio, 44333.
