Mabel "Jerry" Plant, 77, of Wooster, Ohio, formerly of Fowler, IN, died Wednesday March 15, 2006 at Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster. ?Graveside services will be Saturday, April 8, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Fowler with Fr. Donald L. Gross officiating. ?Arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. ?Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com.
Mrs. Plant was born February 19, 1929 in Pulaski Co., IN to Lloyd William and Fae H. (Popejoy) Cossel. ?She married Arthur F. Plant on October 29, 1947. ?He preceded her in death in 1997.
Having attended several area high schools and completing her education with an Associate Degree from Ivy Tech, Mrs. Plant had recently retired. ?She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster, and a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, West Lafayette. ?Through St. Thomas Aquinas, she and her husband spent many years serving in the foreign student program at Purdue as well as mentoring couples through pre-marriage classes.
Surviving are children Frederick (Charlene) Plant of Rensselaer, IN, Marylin (David) Benfield of Wooster, OH, Marcia (Larry) Vilviens of Batavia, OH, Fumiko (Masaru) Hayano of Tokyo, Japan, Irma (David) Kovich of Lafayette, IN, and Eva (Paul) Pavia of Glen Ellyn, IL; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother John (Wanda) Cossel of Jeffersonville, IN.
Her parents, a brother, Henry and a granddaughter, Aryton, preceded her in death.
