Kathryn D. (Braden) Reynolds, 96, formerly of County Road 1475, Ashland, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at her home in Oberlin after an extended illness.


Kathryn was born on December 28, 1913, to Edward and Fannie (Imhoff) Braden of Ashland.On December 9, 1933, she married James H. Reynolds, and the two were lifelong residents of the Paradise Hill area until moving to Oberlin in 1998 to live with their daughter.Over the years, Kathryn worked for Myers Laundry, Ashland Rubber, and her husband’s business, Glenn Heating and Air Conditioning.Since her youth, she was a member of Paradise Hill United Methodist Church.A kind and generous woman dedicated to family, Kathryn was known as a wonderful cook, with a special reputation for her pies.


Survivors include her daughter Kathy Reynolds and “adopted daughter” Judith Connolly, both of Oberlin.Over the past year-and-a-half, she was fortunate to be attended to by two devoted caregivers, Anna Moore and Wilma Hohn.The family is also grateful for the compassionate care and support of New Life Hospice of Elyria.


Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband James, daughter Kay Jean Amyx, son-in-law Virgil Amyx, brothers Howard, Scott and Marshall, and sisters Helen (Brindle) and Pauline (Wachtel).


Visiting hours will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Roberts Funeral Home, Ashland Chapel, 1058 US Rte 250 Ashland, OH.Funeral services will be at 12 pm with Pastor Janet Chilcote of Paradise Hill United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in Kathryn’s name be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035, or to Paradise Hill United Methodist Church, 1491 St. Rte. 603, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
