Lynn Aragon

November 19, 1935 — April 1, 2009

Dr. Lynn Ruth Daugherty Aragon, 73, of Wadsworth, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Akron General Medical Center in Akron. Funeral services will be Sunday at 4 :00 P.M. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel in Wadsworth. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 P.M. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.



Lynn was born November 19, 1935 in Alliance, Ohio to Clifford Charles and Charlotte Ruth (Jones) Daugherty and married Dr. Pedro J. Aragon on July 29, 1983. She attended Sebring public schools where, after skipping first grade, graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1952 from Sebring McKinley High School. She attended West Minster College in New Wilmington, PA as a biology major and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1956. Lynn attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and received her M.D. degree in June of 1960 and spent a year at Columbia Hospital in Wilkinsburg PA in a rotating internship. From 1961-1963 she was stationed with the U.S. Public Health Service on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge, SD. The last half of 1963 was spent as an Emergency Room Physician at Columbia Hospital and then entered private practice in Forest Hills, PA where she practiced until 1985 as a General Practitioner. Lynn moved to Wadsworth in 1985 where she entered employment as an urgent care physician with Healthguard in Akron, which subsequently became HMO Health Ohio. In 1997, Lynn retired from active practice but continued to be involved in medicine through volunteer work with Open-M, an inner-city free clinic in Akron. In 1991, Lynn attained the achievement of a private pilot’s license, which allowed her to enjoy a Cessna 172.



Lynn will be deeply missed by her husband, Pedro of Wadsworth, her children John Gillette of Pittsburgh, PA. Karen Gillette Allen of Zanesville, OH. Susan Gillette Meer of Mt. Lebanon, PA., Keith Gillette of Scottsdale, AZ., Martin E. Aragon of Argentina, Monica Aragon of Cuyahoga Falls, OH., Aridna Aragon of Argentina, and grandchildren Matthew, Miranda, Kimberly, Emily, David, Kelly, Eric John, Morgan, and Everitt.
