David Paul Sr

David A. Paul, Sr. 71, of Wooster, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at his residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Reed officiating. ?Private interment will be held. ?Friends may call Tuesday (today) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.

Dave was born June 15, 1934 in Massillon to Vincent J. and Genevive (Ertle) Paul. ?He married Sara S. Nicolay on April 12, 1968. ?She survives. ?

He graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School with the class of 1952 and attended the University of Dayton before joining the U. S. Army where he served as a proud member of the 82nd ?and the 101st Airborne. ?He was Vice-President of Fireman?s Fund American Insurance Company in Chicago, Illinois and served on the Board of Directors of the American Surety Company of San Francisco, California. ?In later years he moved his family closer to his roots and relocated to Wooster. ?In 1980 he opened DAP Express, serving the specialized shipping needs of the manufacturing and trucking industries. ?Also, during this time he was a partner in the Wooster Racquetball and Tennis Club, which he helped operate with his family and friends.

He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church. ?Among Dave?s hobbies were bridge and tennis. ?He served as a U.S.T.A. League Co-coordinator for the Northeast Ohio Tennis Association, helping to develop Senior League tennis. ?As a bridge player, he was a Life Master. He was a regular and a Past-President of Wooster Duplicate Bridge Club. ?In addition he served as a Board Member for the Akron District of The American Contract Bridge League. ?Dave played bridge and gave lessons all over the world through the Internet. ?During the last year of his life, he spent many hours at the Schellin Pet Park with his grand-dog, ?Martina?. ?

Surviving ?is a son D. Andrew ?Drew? Paul Jr. of Toledo, brothers Vincent J. Paul, Jr., Albert J. Paul and Joseph E. Paul all of Dayton, and sisters Mary Lou Squance of North Olmsted, Ohio and Frances Princehouse of Sabillisville, Maryland and many loved nieces and nephews.

His parents, a sister Margaret Paul and infant son Dean V. Paul died previously.
