George W. Hunt, Sr., 80, of Wooster, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Smithville Western Care Center. ?Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Good News Baptist Church, Smithville, with Pastor Jerry Hackworth and Deacon Howard Masters officiating. ?Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens where military rites will be held. ?Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. ?Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com. ?Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, c/o Millard DeLauder, 599 Summit St., Doylestown, OH ?44230.
George was born March 26, 1926 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Arthur C. and Pearl (Wildman) Hunt. ?He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and married Jean Johnston on April 9, 1944. ?She preceded him in death on November 29, 1998. ?
George retired from Flo-Tork of Orrville in 1992 after more than 25 years of service. ?He was a member of Good News Baptist Church, Smithville. ?He enjoyed playing bingo, watching TV, and CB radio, where he went by the handle "Eight Lug".
George will be deeply missed by his children Mary Esh of Orrville, George (Sarah) Hunt, Jr. of Wooster, and Tammy (Rick) Freed of Leachtown, WV; grandchildren J. P. (Barbara) Esh, Teresa (Shawn) Wolfe and Terry (Kimberly) Hunt; great-grandchildren Jessica, Phillip, and Doug Esh, Jeremiah, Jordan, and Jakob Wolfe, Tristan, Seth, Jadah and Mason Hunt; sisters Margaret Hassenflug of Morgantown, WV, Mary Ann (Ronald) Liston of Bruceton Mills, WV and Joyce Hunt of Morgantown, WV.
George was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Charles and Walter Hunt and sisters Mina Riddle and Louise Jones.
